All aspects of fax works OK except I cannot preview the document before
sending or be able to open an already sent fax. Trying to open to view
reverts to the desktop.

Try removing and re-adding the fax service.

This is done under Control Panel Add/Remove programs. Click on
Add/Remove Windows Components. Locate Windows fax services in the list
and uncheck it. Follow on-screen prompts. Restart Windows. Return to the
same location and re-check the Fax Services box.

Let us know.

There are many possible causes for this problem. Most often, this problem
arises because some other imaging application that you installed has set
itself as the default viewer for TIF files. To view faxes from the Fax
Console, the Windows Imaging and Fax viewer must be your default viewer for
TIF files. You can easily restore that setting in Windows Explorer > Folder
Options. File Types. For most users the command line should read:

"rundll32.exe <drive>:\WINDOWS\system32\shimgvw.dll,ImageView_Fullscreen %1"

Another common cause of this problem is firewall software Trojan horse
rules. The most common is one that ships with Norton Internet Security.
Details on that on are available here:

Barry or anyone:

Did you solve your problem? If so could you let me know what to do mine
problem is as follows below (sounds the same as yours)
At the complete Fax Wizard, I select preview fax, then a 2 windows pop up,
top one saying The fax preview cannot be displayed, I then select the ok
button and read the bottom box which says, Error PntVideo, DRV not found or
not enough memory. How can I fix this?

G

Yes I am having all the same problems as you, if someone answers with a
solution it would help both of us.

All aspects of fax works OK except I cannot preview the
document
before
sending or be able to open an already sent fax. Trying to
open
to
view
reverts to the desktop.

Many thanks

Well I just viewed my first fax since getting a new CPU in July. I will
print and use what I just learned from you for future reference.
Thank You for having the patience to stay with me. Next on Monday I have to
find out why I cannot restore my system to an earlier restore point.

It's always good to restart whenever you've made a system change. That
should take care of it.

Ok I highlighted
Tif Corel Photo-paint 4.0 picture
opens with corel paint
Clicked on change and changed it too: Windows Picture and Fax Viewer

Now reads as:
Extension TIF File Types TIF File
Opens with Windows Picture and Fax Viewer

Is this correct? DO I have to restart XP windows or do anything else
before
I go and try to view a fax?

Thank you for your patience
Carolyn

That's your problem. TIF files need to be set to use the Windows Picture
and
Fax viewer.
It's all documented here:

I found two
(1) Tif
Corel Photo-paint 4.0 picture
opens with corel paint

(2) Tiff
Tif image
opens with picture & Fax viewer

What would the next step be?

Thank You

:

You should be able to scroll down the list of file types, find TIF
files,
then examine the program used for the "Open" command.

I found Windows Explorer by (1)selecting start (2)select all programs
(3)
(select Accesories)
(4) select windows Explorer (which brought up my documents) (4)
select
tools
(5) select folder options
(6) Select file Types
I have gotten this far now looking at Registered file types: Has
Extensions File Types

Where do I scrowl down to and how do I see

"rundll32.exe
<drive>:\WINDOWS\system32\shimgvw.dll,ImageView_Fullscreen
%1

Thank You

Windows Explorer is the main utility used to view the contents of
your
computer and is available on the Start Menu.

I am sorry but I just do not know how to find a lot of things in
order
to
fix
a problem,
Where is the Windows Explorer - Folder? If I find that then what
would
I
do
if the line does not read what you have below.

Carolyn

Windows Explorer > Folder
Options. File Types. For most users the command line should read:

"rundll32.exe
<drive>:\WINDOWS\system32\shimgvw.dll,ImageView_Fullscreen
%1"

More thorough?
No. What information are you lacking?

can you be more through in your instructions for correcting
this
problem,
like step by step, I have never worked with this problem
before.
Thanks

There are many possible causes for this problem. Most often,
this
problem
arises because some other imaging application that you
installed
has
set
itself as the default viewer for TIF files. To view faxes
from
the
Fax
Console, the Windows Imaging and Fax viewer must be your
default
viewer
for
TIF files. You can easily restore that setting in Windows
Explorer

Folder
Options. File Types. For most users the command line should
read:

"rundll32.exe
<drive>:\WINDOWS\system32\shimgvw.dll,ImageView_Fullscreen
%1"

Another common cause of this problem is firewall software
Trojan
horse
rules. The most common is one that ships with Norton Internet
Security.
