Microsoft camera and scanner wizard cannot detect the camera

Ever since I did a reg clean and a defrag my computer has been acting funky.
This is just one of the last problems I haven't been able to fix.

When I connect my FujiFilm 2600Z to the computer by USB the auto play
feature brings up the options for me to choose something. I choose the
Microsoft Camera and Scanner Wizard. But then I get this error message. "The
computer cannot detect the scanner or camera. Please make sure the device is
turned on and is properly connected to the computer." Now I know that the
camera is connected correctly, because if I choose to open in file view all
the pictures are there. Plus if I use a different program for uploading
pictures it will also work. I also can use the camera as a webcam without a
problem. So it's not really a connection problem I wouldn't think.

The camera was working fine before the reg clean and defrag, so it has to be
because of that. I tried reinstalling the camera driver and even doing a scf
/scannow to see if any files were missing, but it still didn't help. Plus
throughout the whole scan a box kept popping up asking me to try again about
a thousand times before the scan was finished, my fingers were exhausted. I
can't do a system restore because it some how had got turned off. One of the
mysterious problems that has been happening since the reg clean and defrag.
I contacted my camera manufacture and they said because the camera works fine
with other programs, it's not a problem with the camera but with the
Microsoft's scanner and camera wizard. Though finding someone to e-mail at
Microsoft is hopeless, so this is my last hope that someone here can help me
please..

Thank you

Just to add I don't have Real Player 10 installed on my computer. I know
that this has been a problem for others..

Well I fixed my own problem.. I usually always do because I'm impatient and
don't wait around long enough for someone to reply. I usually I keep
searching till I find what I am looking for.. Anyway this is what I did..

I found this article at Microsoft

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q264564/

They suggested that I go to scanner and camera in the control panel and add
my device. Now, I had tried to do this before, but they didn't have my camera
in the choices and for some reason it wouldn't recognize anything on my
cameras CD when I clicked have CD. So this time I just added what ever model
they had for my camera, then tried to connect my camera, BINGO it worked!!
After I deleted that camera, because it wouldn't work if I tried connecting
with that because it wasn't the same model. Though after I deleted it my
camera still worked and was detected by the scanner and camera wizard.. I
guess what ever files the computer used to set up that camera, worked for
mine too... Now I'm a happy camper.. :)
