microsoft backup question - network

Alan

Can I use Microsoft backup (that I installed from the windows xp home
version CD) to backup my entire computer onto another one that is on my
network? I looked at the help file and it was not so clear to me.

I want to make a complete image (for emergency purposes) onto another
computer also running xp home. I would put the image on a 2nd hard drive I
have installed, not on the primary drive. Assuming I can do this, will
putting the backup file erase whatever is on that hard drive or willl I be
able to keep the data I have there? Assume space is not an issue.

Afterwards I will burn the image onto multiple DVD's - I do not have a DVD
burner on the first computer.

Thanks

Microsoft Backup will no do what you want. You will need a 3rd party app
like Drive Image, Ghost, etc.

MS Backup is not suitable to carry out a complete image of your PC
You should use an application such as Acronis True Image. I can strongly
recommend it as an easy to use system
