Microsoft AntiSpyware freeze

B

Bill

I just installed the program and ran my first scan. It
detected 59 items and recommended removal of all but one.
I told it to do the remmoval of the recomended items. It
removed 11 of the items and then stopped and it ended
anti spyware processing. In addition it froze up the
program and essentially the computer. I saved the file
and restarted the computer several times, activated the
program and the same thing happens again. I still have 48
items to remove. The computer is an HP with a 1.6 gig
pentium 4 processor. Is there anything else that can be
done?

Hi

Try this and help MSAS to overcome your scanning challenge.
Maybe its too much junk within your PC. You then scan in safe mode
to avoid problems with to many running processes.

Download CCleaner, www.ccleaner.com and remove all temporarily junk.
Also clean registry with "Issues".

Download/Install Lavasofts Adaware

After install upgrade Adaware definitions with "Check for updates".

Restart in safe mode, press F8 during reboot just before Windows flag
screen appears.

Scan with both MSAS and Lavasoft Adaware, choose "full scans".

Try running the program in safe mode. There could be
spyware or a trojan that is keeping the program from
completing it's task. I have had this happen and once I
cleaned things up in safe mode, the program worked as expected.
