Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta TESTING

Daniel

Hmm...it's a BETA,but I can't find anyway to send
feedback to MS??

I am not very happy with the MS beta AntiSpyware. After
having it running for quite some time, it finally found
something! "MyWay" was found as High Threat. I selected
the option REMOVE from the list of options (Ignore,
Remove, Always Ignore).

Well, MS AntiSpyware proceeded to IGNORE the threat. It
was NOT quarantined (ie it does not show up in the
quarantine at all??) and the threat is still listed under
the Spyware Scan as a threat detected. (btw, I did this a
few times, just to make sure I had not selected
ignore...I know what I'm doing, I document/test sw as
part of my job).

Not happy with this at all. Where is the feedback to
MS????

Know how you feel!
I thought too that there would be a feedback regarding
problems during it's beta phase... I am having problems
with it loading since updates last week, and resorted to
this newsgroup as I couldn't find anywhere else to ask
someone about it. Bummer eh ? I hardly think the boffins
@ MS actually look at our gripes/ troubles regarding
usage on this newsgroup, but we can live in hope !

It is a public beta, with peer support.

These groups are where that peer support happens, and where Microsoft, in
fact, reads the feedback you give.

I'm not sure what is happening with Myway--either in general, or on your
system. Here are some thoughts that may help us know more about that
question, and get your system cleaned.

1) check out the cleaner.log file in the folder Microsoft Antispyware is
installed in--typically c:\program files\microsoft antispyware.

See what that says about the actions taken to clean Myway--if any!

One possibility is that there was an attempt to clean which wasn't
successful.

Generally, if something is identified accurately by Microsoft Antispyware,
but not removed, the next step is to try restarting the machine in safe
mode, and doing full, deep scans until a scan comes through clean.

Check out the other links given for manual cleaning methods, as well.

Before you clean further, you might submit a Tools, Suspected spyware report
from the machine and detail what you've said here--that may help improve the
cleaning experience for others eventually.
