on a older person like myself makes it very difficult to use a

just a normal type keyboard , nothing to fancy , just your basic
normal keyboard . Come on Microsoft care for a change . Stop worrying

Calm down fellow. You first need to learn to type a search query.

Its one of those that has the goofy arrangement for the del insert etc
keys, but its white and plain and only 20$.

Then you have one on me. I don't deal international. Not sure why you
can't buy on line, but I'll bow to your expertise. I thought credit
cards were credit cards and shipping was shipping. Actually I'm 61
and have a bit of an eye issue, uncorrectable. The latter nextag
keyboard kinda looks cool. Large letters. I can touch type however.
Learned in the 7th grade on a typewriter with no lettering. It forced
you to learn. You couldn't cheat.
Now that you mention it, I just bought a logitech keyboard at a computer
show and it was black. The right layout without that goofy insert/del
key arrangement. But it is black.... hmmmm wondering if that's going
to be an issue... Hm.... Glad it was only 10$.

Who said you had to purchase a Microsoft or Logitech hardware device in the
first place? If you believe those are your only choices - you need to
expand your horizons a bit:

Search using Google!
http://www.google.com/
(How-to: http://www.google.com/intl/en/help/basics.html )

I recently got one of these for my grandmother with cataracts:
http://www.visikey.net/products.html

She loves it. The white letters on the black keys makes it easier for her
to use - especially since they are large print.

I have seen your other responses - who cares what is *in your city*? I'm
not in your city. This newsgroup is not *just* in your city - if the server
you post to is - I would be surprised. You can order things and have them
delivered. Sometimes - you can order things online at a store that *is* in
your city and pick them up at the store that is in your city.

I think you are just complaining to complain.

By the way - what is a 'normal type keyboard'? Not everyone has the same
definition. I met one lady who used only the keyboards that split in half
and had indentions so your hands fit 'into' the keyboard. For her - that
was normal. For many people - the DVORAK layout is normal. For many
others, QWERTY. For others, black or silver is normal. For others - the
older style Microsoft Ergonomic keyboard is normal ( still for sale:
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mouseandkeyboard/productdetails.aspx?pid=022 )

The point being - just because you want something specific doesn't mean
every company out there has to bend to your individual whim. As I said - my
grandmother has trouble seeing and after trying many other keyboards - the
VisiKey one worked out great. Black keyboard, large white lettering. She
said herself that the white/beige keyboards with black lettering was harder
to read for her. Normal for you might suck for someone else.

Ever got out pops?

There are these places called "computer stores". Places like Staples.

Myself - I'm 64 - I don't have a problem with black keyboards.

So are alot of other unknowns you failed to disclose...
For instance, if the keyboard you desire is standard keyboard connector,
PS2, USB or what....
And, you failed to disclose where you are shopping as you seem to want to
shop locally per the previous reply. Your nationality is not an issue if
you have adequate local currency for purchase of a keyboard.

How about a tax to support any military conflict/police action over 3 months
old?

An actual war, we can do what's been done in the past.

I'm talking about local retail computer stores . I don't buy anything
online , just don't trust it . But its funny no one can answer as to
why couldn't Microsoft or Logitech have a few white monitors ? Staples
doesn't have any . I was there today .

Find a keyboard online that is the color you like

Go to a local retailer and buy one of those refillable secured "credit"
cards (there may be a few dollars/pounds/euros fee).

Use the refillable card to purchase the keyboard on line. That way the
vendor doesn't have access to the account number, expiration date or
even the institution name of your normal financial accounts.

OR

Find some independent computer vendor in your neighborhood (not part of
a chain) that stocks generic brand keyboards.

You did get answers - you are just looking for something that no one here
can answer definitively because there is no definitive answer to give.
Opinions and preferences are a source of discussion, not definites.

You can be as stubborn as you like - that is your right. Enjoy it.

You've jumped a bit - now you seem to have included "Staples" in your
tirade. Why can they not have white monitors (you even changed hardware
type.)

Why is that funny? How would anybody here know why Microsoft of
Logitech chooses their colors? And I thought you were whining about
keyboards, not monitors?

Whiners just like to whine.

Two points:

1. I am an "older folk" myself. I'm 70, and I use a black keyboard
which doesn't bother me at all. In fact I like it.

2. There are many other companies who make keyboards besides Microsoft
and Logitech. If you want a white keyboard, they are many choices
available. Just google white keyboard. You'll see that even Microsoft
makes some. Here's a Microsoft white keyboard, for example:

Interesting to say the least. I am looking at my Dell Keybaord which is
black with white letters, etc. It isn't hard for me to see.
Perhaps at almost 78 I am not as old as I thought...

In fact black keyboards with white lettering have been the norm for as long
as I can remember.. That would be 40 years or so.

It's safer to buy online than to pay with a credit card in a restaurant!

Right, but even more important, he's blaming Microsoft and Logitech
for *his* personal decision not to buy anything on-line.

And he switched his complaint from keyboard color to monitor color.
