Microphone won't work.

When I try to use my mic for Skype calls it won't work. I tried using the
sound recorder and the mic worked fine. When I try to adjust the volume
settings I get an error message "SndVol32.exe" can't be found. I used the
Help program and it directed me to run a command sentence. When I tried this
it told me another program was using the cmd function already. How do I find
out which program is using the cmd function and disable it?

Oooopsie. And when was the last time you scanned the system for the
presence of malware ?
