Microphone problem

I have a microphone for my computer, and when I try to record something, it
says, "Another application is recording audio. Stop recording with this other
application and then try to record with Sound Recorder again." I checked
everything and there were no possible programs that were open that could
record anything. Could someone please help me with this?
 
try control panel and check the sounds and audio settings.
sometimes inappropriate hardware can be selected by default
