Microphone Feedback

When I speak with someone on the phone through the computer, I can hear my
own voice "repeating" through my speakers and/or earphones. I was told to
"mute" the microphone in the Volume Control Preferences, but when I do that,
I'm not hearing the person on the other end.

Sounds like whatever software you installed for your "phone system" is
misconfigured. Contact the software vendor for better instructions.

Elsie,

Just in case you tried the wrong thing I just want to make sure... When you
go into your Volume Control Preferences you should see a number of different
slide bars. One will be named Mic or Microphone that is the one you want to
mute. I just wanted to be specific in case you were just muting the volume
in the bottom right corner and not in the entire volume control preferences.
To get to Volume Control Preferences Double click the sound icon in your
taskbar on the bottom right or Go to Start > control panel > Sounds, speech,
and audio devices > sounds and audio devices > In the Volume Tab click
advanced in the device volume section. Good Luck.
