My mic is not working. I have tried it out on a drifferent computer and
it did work. Windows did change my mic settings to something wierd and
I changed them back and Windows changed them again. I ave tried Line in
and microphone, but both do not work. They are not muted. I had 2
virtual devices and I uninstalled some programs and they went away but
not the problem.

Bad sound card, and/or bad drivers. Alternately, if this is a computer
with the audio jacks wired through the front, it could be miswired, or
unplugged.

I did reinstall the drivers I found on the website. It worked before
and then it stoped shorty after when the problem started where my
system it says when it starts that there is no keyboard, so I press F1
and it continues. Is this mabey a bad motherboard?

Hmmm, set's not be so hasty. Is this audio part of the motherboard, or
a separate card?

If it's on-board, then I would put failure 1+failure 2 together and
say, prob'ly failing mobo.

If it's a card, then I'd say try another keyboard. And swap out the
sound card.

I'm part Irish on me dear mother side, and I take offense at you using
that derrogatory term!

I fixed the keyboard problem. I went into my BIOS settings and loaded
the fail safe defaults. That did not fix the mic problem. The audio is
part of the motherboard. The speaker output does still work. I also
tried it out in linux and I got nothing. It was working fine and then
it all of a sudden stopped working.

Dead component, then. You can disable the onboard audio and buy a PCI
sound card.

It works under Linux now, but still not in Windows.

New card, or the original sound component? If it's the original, it's
haunted, bypass it and go on. If it's a new card, then that would
suggest driver issues. Which are esoteric.

The sound is part of the motherboard. If it works in linux, why would
it not work in windows? The motherboard is a Soyo SY-K7VMP2.
