this is my 2nd time writing this.. I just now typed out a whole big thing,
about 10 mins and it got erased.. I HATE when that happens. Anyway..

I have noticed that my pc has been kinda slower while loading files and
programs lately. So I ran Diskeeper, and under the RELIABILITY TAB, it was at
WARNING, said that my MFT file was at 85%, and that I should run a boot time
defrag on the MFT, and when I do, when it get to the paging file, and the MFT
file it skips defraggin them, saying that they aren't fragmented. Under the
PERFORMANCE TAB, where it shows the TOTAL TIME TO READ ONLY FRAGMENTED FILES,
I can't get it lower than 100 seconds, normally after running a few times it
gets down to 0.
It also told me that i should increase the size of the MFT file, so I go
where it tells me to, under configure MFT/Pageing file, BUT it says...

Current MFT size 134,512 file records (131MB) Percent used: 85%
MFT has sufficient records, NO CHANGES ARE RECOMMENDED. <----???

under the BOOT TIME DEFRAG option I have also checked for it to run Chkdsk
before running the defrag, but it is still the same thing. Everytime I
analyse the C:\ it says that the MFT is at 85% and in 2 fragments.. it is
suppose to be in 1 piece right? That is what I read somewhere.

I have also added A DWord value called NtfsMftZoneReservation in the
registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Filesystem
w/ a value of 3
which is suppose to reserve more space for the MFT file..

I don't know what is goin on. I don't know how to get the MFT file
defragmented, and fix it from being at 85% of its total size. If anyone has
any info I would really appreciate it. Thanx so much.

There is no problem. Call Diskeeper support and grill *them* on what
they think the problem is, why they consider this warning important, and
what *they* would do to supposedly fix it.

OK,
So it isn't anything to worry about? One thing that I am worried about.
Things are REALLY moving pretty slow now. I think that I messed up by putting
that value in the registry and setting it at 3. Which I can't think right
now, but it is the 2nd highest amt of space you can set for the MFT, Is there
any way for me to just remove that entry from the registry, or am I stuck w/
it now? Cause I'm not sure, I think I read it somewhere.. I hope that I'm
wrong, but if you increase the MFT you can't decrease it w/out formatting
the drive.. is that correct?
If so, do you think by me setting it at 3, that it would slow stuff down?
From loading, and goin from one program to another, it is just dragged down.
I know I don't have any virus's or spyware or anything like that. I've
checked over and over, w/ many different apps.

I had began to think that the warning on diskeeper was full of it.. but now
I think I might have messed it up for sure now. If you don't care, can you
check out about being able to remove the entry from the registry? The DWord
value called NtfsMftZoneReservation that is in the
registry under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Filesystem
w/ a value of 3

Thank you so much...
Chris
