Message view problem

I have several email addresses so like to include the account name as one of
the columns in the message list view pane of my Inbox. However it is blank.
When I download messages the account name shows briefly (a second or two)
then disappears for ever.

I tried deleting the message store folder forcing Mail to create a new Inbox
but the problem is still there.

The account name column works fine in all other folders including other
inboxes that I copy incoming mail into using a message rule.

Any ideas anyone? I do NOT want to re-install Vista for such a minor but
nuisance problem.

You may prefer Windows Live Mail, which maintain a separate set of
folders for each account:

Windows Mail uses one set for all accounts.

Some third party security programs (anti-spam, anti-virus) are known
to strip the account information. Do you have any programs in that
category? If so, we can suggest suitable free replacements.

The web interface to this forum (actually a newsgroup) is atrocious.
Click on the following link, and it will open in your news reader.
Be advised that the first time you do this it will download thousands
of message headers, so it will take a few minutes even on broadband.

Most versions of the McAfee antivirus software cause assorted
problems in Windows Mail, although seldom immediately. So do
most versions of the Norton antivirus software and a recent
version from Trend. These need to be uninstalled , not just
disabled, to stop them from causing new problems. You are
likely to also need to run this program, to do more cleanup:

You may even have to remove your email account under
Windows Mail, then create it again.

If this fixes your problem, you may want a replacement
antivirus program. I recommend either avast! or AVG,
either one with a custom install that tells it to leave out the
part that scans email.
