"Messages may be stuck in the Outbox when you use Windows Mail on a
computer that is running Windows Vista"

That page offers two download options. Unless you know for sure
you have 64-bit Vista, use the 32-bit option.

I've had the same problem after buying a new computer with Windows Vista.
After researching & setting up the server, my error messages in trying to
send e-mails read:

The connection to the server has failed. Subject ''none, Account:
'pop.att.yahoo.com', Server: 'smtp.att.yahoo.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

and also

Account: 'pop.att.yahoo.com', Server: 'pop.att.yahoo.com', Protocol: POP3,
Server Response: '-ERR [AUTH] invalid user/password', Port: 110, Secure(SSL):
No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92

ANY ADVICE? After trying the download, message stated download wasn't
necessary I think.
Tried this. Downloaded the update. It didn't work. Any other ideas? (Tried to
download again; got message that I couldn't.)

Go to the tools menu>accounts select your account>properties.

Try the following changes to port numbers on the advanced tab.

Incoming mail port #: 995, secure connection (SSL) checked
Outgoing mail port #: 465, secure connection (SSL) checked

Select the checkbox on the Server Tab:

Outgoing mail server: Outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.

You have wrong mail server settings. Steve has already given you the
correct settings. For future reference, your ISP has documented those
settings here:

The host 'LIVE' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the
server name correctly.

Select another folder in the account, then right click on the stuck folder
and click clear messages.

I just read the string of emails on this problem. I can't send emails and it
says there are two sitting in my outbox, however, when I click on the outbox
there is nothing there. I tried the download you said to try but it states
the update doesn't apply to your computer. I am no computer wiz, can you
tell me how to fix it as it seems you know what you are doing.

If the update said it doesn't apply, it means you already had it, probably
through installing Vista's SP1 update.
Open the Outbox folder and make sure the 'current view' is set for
"Show All Messages" rather than "Hide Read Messages".
Delete any messages you see in the Outbox.
If no improvement, delete your mail account, restart Windows Mail, then
recreate that account.
