hi there,
I have a msg stuck in my outbox, it never sent for some reason and i cant
delete, move or do anything with it. i have recently changed service
providers. so evertime i now go into windows mail it comes up saying...

one or more messages in your Outbox does not have a valid account specified.
Would you like to use your defult account to send this message?

even if i hit yes..or even no..it does nothing ad keeps poping up with that
when i get into windows mail or try to send a message.

Download and install this hotfix, with Windows Mail not running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works in
other folders. If you don't know whether you have a 32-bit version
of Vista or a 64-bit version, try the hotfix for the 32-bit version
first. Certain common antivirus programs, such as most of those
from Norton or McAfee, tend to cause stuck messages and other
problems in Windows Mail, although seldom immediately, so if you
have such a program, remember where to find the hotfix, and hope it
will install again if you need it again. A recent version of the Trend
antivirus program also causes problems in Windows Mail.

The Vista SP1 update contains this hotfix and more, but takes
longer to install.

The following worked for me (without my knowing that it would solve my
problem):
I had to call my internet service provider about my not being able to
receive/send mail and had previously spent many hours on the telephone about
this. This time I was instructed to to my provider's webmail (my) account
and deleted all of the mail that had accumulated there. Without knowing it,
this solved my Windows Mail problem as there is a limit to the number which
can be stored. It might work for you too. I can send/receive mail without
having to answer questions about "one or more accounts, etc.").

If you have such a limit it's from your ISP, not Windows Mail.

Then your problem is different.
Describe your problem in detail, and include a copy of any error messages.

Did you try both the 32-bit version of the hotfix and the 64-bit
version? At least one of those should not apply, but not everyone
guesses right about which one. Also, do you have the Vista SP1
update installed, which includes this hotfix and more, but takes
longer to install?

I have exactly the same problem, only the puzzling thing for me is that the
message did actually get sent but seemed to save a clone in the outbox.
Interesting that Microsoft though appears to be letting their 'community'
just chat to each other and do nothing to advise/rectify the problem.

Click on the Outbox, then that message, and try to either move it to
the Drafts folder or delete it. If it refuses to do either, download and
install this hotfix, with Windows Mail not running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

Microsoft seemd to have given up on fixing any more problems in
Windows Mail, and offered a new email/newsreader program instead:

http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview

They're at least trying to fix any problems found in this one.

I fixed this on my own by click on the local folder in your email show it
show the folders high light the outbox then go to the top of page to the
right in the blue where it says show all messages and click on the drop down
arrow and click show all messages then it will show them so you can delet
them , it fixed mine so I hope this will help any and all that was just as
flustered with this as I .....

You will have to contact the organization that gave you that password
in the first place. That would be your mail service provider.
