Lost "outbox" msg

I sent a msg with a bad address. Naturally it was rejected, but now it's
stuck somewhere between my Outbox & limbo, How can I retrieve it to correct
& send? Outbox says there is one msg, but the box is empty & now I'm
constantly prompted to send a msg that will not be sent & that I can't
correct!

That message is either in the Outbox folder or in the Sent Items folder.
Make sure each mail folder has its view option set to "Show All Messages"
instead of "Hide Read Messages".
