Memory upgrade problem ??

I have this Motherboard



I have 2x512Mb of this



And bought 2 of these




Get error beeps on system set up ???? Where have I gone wrong ??

upgraded Video Card to 8600Gt and that went fine..

Is this with them in all 4 slots? - does it boot with just the 2 new ones in the primary dual channel slots?

Geil were in the blue slots DDR DIMM A1 and DDR DIMM B1 , i then tried the newer in the same ...beeps and then the newer alongside the original config (ie DIMM A2 and DIMM b2) ..(following me ?) still beeps..??

Run memtest on the new sticks.

V_R , with them slotted , cant get them working ??? how do i run memtest ?

(lights out ...swapping geil with aria now...same slots )

switching to laptop mode for updates

I would have thought its unlikely they are defective, and certainly not both - more likely they are incompatible with your mobo.

1 long beep then 2 shorter beeps. ??

Ok know what your thinking...should have bought 2 identical 512mb sticks as originals...sorry guys for wasting your time....

Hmmmmm, the "Beep Code" you are explaining for Asus (1 Long... 2 Short) is indicating a Video Adaptor problem.
"Check to see that your Video Card is properly and evenly seated.
Check the Video Cable to your Monitor too"

Thats really strange Ady....old memory back in and alls working fine again...no error beeps, i know i changed the video card but that was fine from the start , recognises it from power up screen as correct , it is seated correctly also

Checked overclockers again this morning...and they had 2 in stock, phoned them at 8.30am

q1. Will you put me 1 aside for 20 mins - sorry cant reserve any
q2 If i order online can i come to collect-no dont do pick ups

so nipped out of work , up to them and got the last pair, so will try them l8 when i finish work

Plugged in and hey presto 2GB working , must have been incompatible
