Memory testing software

Hi

is there any software you use to test memory?

I got a few sticks here that need testing

is this testing done in bios or in windows?

also can i test memory that don't boot up the pc
i guess that is a NO!

cheers

this reminds me a bit of when I was intalling php, mysql and apache
not just a simple exe job
