memory problems

after adding more memory my bios is reading 256 but the
system on my computer said 128

These computers are configured with the Intel 810 chipset, which is
compatible with 64 megabit and 128 megabit memory technology. Many memory
manufacturers sell memory modules that utilize 256 megabit technology, which
the Intel 810 chipset can not fully address.

If not, install other compatible memory modules.
