Memory problem

Windows Xp Home is shutting down once every 2 - 3 hours when connected
to internet. The connection is HomePna.. No virusis or worms found.
The ram memory of 512 Mb indicates a failure when tested.

When tried with a new memory the test shows the same problem. When
testing the original memory in another machine no problem found.

TheWindows memory diagnostic shows a failure in "stride 6"

The problem is in HomePna card or motherboard or smewhere else?

Anybody got any ideas?

It certainly seems probably that you have a problem with your HPna card.
If the computer runs perfectly while not connected to the Internet, you
know your motherboard is fine. Since you can connect for a while, it
would seem that when the card heats up, some circuits fail. Try a
different card or if this was provided by your ISP, call them.

Tried another HPna card too but it did not change anything.

Is it possible it shows a memory problem if the card is defective?

Try another memory diagnostic program for a second opinion.

The cause appeared to be the motherboard.

That is not a nice problem to have. But at least you have found the
cause.

Good luck
