Memory Card Recognition

I have a 256 meg San Disk card that I use in my HP digital camera. When I
insert it into the appropriate memory slot on my computer, (HP Windows XP
SP2) the blue light comes on and I can access it via explorer, copy files
etc. It shows as MMC/SD (G:) It works just like an additional disk drive.

When I insert it into my son's XP Pro computer the blue light comes on the
computer (also HP) but the drive doesn't show up under Explorer. Similar
lack of recognition on another friend's Dell Laptop which also runs Windows
(think XP).

What gives? I would like to insert that card into my son's computer and
copy pix files to his hard drive. Might I have, some long time ago, on
first use of this card, had it in the slot before turning on the computer?
I don't remember.

Thanks,

Chet

San Disk makes many different memory cards. Your best bet is to contact their support to check for any known issues with that particular card.
