Memorex's Karaoke Software

Just curious if anyone else here has had this problem
installing Memorex's Karaoke Music Management software
(version 3.0) -- XP Home gets into a "restart loop" once
the PC is powered down and then restarted. I have not
yet gotten a response from my email to Memorex.

The Memorex product is MKS4001 and is basically just a
microphone with onboard storage for a hundred or so
karaoke tunes that plugs into the RCA jacks on a TV. The
software is supposed to allow you download karaoke music
from your PC and the web to the MKS4001 device via a
standard USB cable (similar to that of a digital camera).

After not hearing back from the Memorex support types, I
cheated and read the instructions that came with the
MKS4001 -- it turns out that Memorex just remarkets the
technology from an outfit called On-Key, who actually
produces the PC music management software... which is
necessary to download music from the On-Key website to
your album of music on your PC, and then to manage (add,
change, delete) the 100, or so, tunes residing on the
MKS4001 itself.

I downloaded the latest version of the On-Key software
and everything is now fine... the smoking pistol with the
software that was provided on CD with the MKS4001 was a
DOS window that popped up right at the end of the
("successful") install and launched a couple of low-level
commands (which apparently caused the re-start loop) --
interestingly, the latest, greatest software that I
downloaded ALSO opened the DOS window, but did not seem
to execute any commands.
