meeting invitation from notes to outlook 2003 blocked inbox

inconsiderately (with hindsight), I had sent a meeting invitation over the internet to a colleague using Lotus Notes (or something similar). He sent me back an acceptance form, but Outlook2003 is apparently incapable of digesting that. The meeting invitation cannot be deleted, nor opened. Worse, my laptop computer stops synchronizing the OST file as soon as it finds the offending meeting acceptance! Scanpst does not help, as the problem is not in the PST or OST file but in the Inbox itself. I think I am really deeply stuck... Any help would be graciously appreciated! Adriano

Have you tried shift+del when highlighting the offending item? That
sometimes works - try it in OWA if it doesn't work in Outlook.
