I don't have cable and so sometimes I try and download movies from the net.
The problem is that it is sooo slow!!! The buffering stage sometimes takes up
to an hour to download. Is there anything I can do to make it go faster?

Either get a cable modem or get dsl.
P.S. Once you get cable you'll never want to go back to dial-up.
