Media Player Playback

Within the last couple of days media player has developed this odd bug. Near the end of any song (varies depending on song) the progression bar stops moving and the whole computer freezes but eh music keeps playing, when that track finishes everything goes back to normal until that song finishes. Also media player is now taking about 30 seconds to open a song, which is bout 6 times longer than previously. Ive tried to re-install medai player, but I could work out how to do properly. Any help would be very welcome. Thanks
