I just installed windows media player 9 and now playing mp3s freeze my computer regularly. Also, visualizations do not play constantly anymore, after every song it turns off and has to be turned back on again between tracks

Yep, thats right. WMP 9 has DRM built in. I refuse to
install it and stay on wmp 8.

You might be able to revert/uninstall it & go back to
v8.

Hi, nothing to OP said would have anything to do with DRM! Nor would it
cause you any problems in day to day use. You only have to worry about it
if you are playing content with DRM.

read this, it's just about the best source of info on WMP9.

tho your problem does sound odd; perhaps a reinstall is in order. Do note
that the visualizations, especially in full screen, do eat up lots of cpu
time, and work best on a very fast machine.
