Do not uninstall / reinstall WMP before trying these 2 steps:
1. Use a Startup Utility to remove WMP from the RUN list
in your registry: http://new.jtsoft2001.com/windows/startup.php
2. Double-check for advice in the WMP newsgroup located at:
http://communities.microsoft.com/Newsgroups/default.asp? ICP=windowsmedia&sLCID=US

| Thanx for your response. When mp9 starts, no file starts
| playing, the program is just ready for use. I found no
| shortcut for mp9 in my start up location. *I'm thinking
| of uninstalling the program and reinstalling it at the
| risk of losing all my media files as a last resort,but I
| also wonder if this may be a waste of time at the risk of
