Mechwarrior 4 and LAN problems

I am trying to play Mechwarrior 4 using two of my
computers connected by a LAN. I have a cable modem which
is connected to a router and then to a switch. I am
using XP Pro and I keep getting a message that says
player name connected, then player name kicked , and
finally player name disconnected. I tried changing
settings within my router to allow UDP 2303-2400 and also
using DXport all to no avail. I have DX 9.0a installed.
Why can't I play this game on my LAN?

Hi Rastakirk,

I recommend that you install DirectX 9.0b:

You should also try turning off the UPnP option in your router. Sometimes
that has an adverse effect in LAN games. Since you're on a LAN you can
bypass the router and use just the switch for your LAN games. That will
avoid confusing the game which doesn't know whether to use your Public IP
from your ISP or the Private IP's you either set dynamically, or which you
were assigned via the DHCP service of your Router. Aren't LAN's fun?

I'm having issue with hosting a LAN game, keeps disconnecting the other player and when they try to join it shows them as a Camera
