MCE 2005 Alternative Installation Process...

R

Reflex

Is it possible to install MCE 2005 using a standard Windows XP CDROM, the
reason for asking is related to my previous post about domain membership and
lack of network drivers.

My thinking is...

Install Windows XP using the MCE2005 serial number.
Then add the relevant drivers for the network
Add to my domain
The add the MCE2005 components

Is this likely to work or am I wasting my time?

Cheers

No, the MCE Product Key only works with the MCE
installation CD.

You cannot join your computer to a domain in Windows XP
Media Center Edition 2005

You are wasting your time with that approach.
The entry of the appropriate product key triggers the request for the second
disk of the MCE install set.
The first disk is a Windows XP Professional with SP2 CD, as if you enter a
regular XP product key your just get a normal install of Windows XP
Professional.
