Mcaffee Interface

Why does Mcaffee alter my default server setting so that every time I go
into Outlook Express I get an error message that causes me to have to amend
the setting back to the original so that I can send and receive mail? I am
not able to get help on this one from Mcaffee other than to ring them -
which has proved expensive in the past.

It alters it because it's set to scan email, and it does this by inserting
its proxy server in the data path. So, the McAffee client has the login
information for the real mail server; the email client, OE, refers to the
McAffee proxy server.

However, there are lots of problems with this, and many people find it
worthwhile to disable email scanning and restore the email accounts to their
original settings.
