Windows Mail and McAffee conflicts?

I've read many posts on this fdiscussion group stating that WM is not
compatable with McAffee or Symantec's Security programs. I use both WM (3
POP3 accounts)and Windows Live Hotmail along with McAffee anti-virus
programs. McAffee is set to do e-mail scanning. I've been using them for
several months and have had no problems sending or receiving mail. What kind
of problems should I be on the lookout for?

Actually the many posts you have read point out that it is in fact
Norton and McAfee that are not compatible with Vista!!!

The notion that an OS should be written to be compatible
with one or two... or in fact any... particular third party POS
is bizarre to the max. Totally ludicrous and most likely
impossible considering the 10's if not 100's of thousands
of products on the market.

Your suggestion is akin to going to a locksmith and
asking him to cut a lock to fit your key.

You won't need to "look out" for the problems because
when they happen you won't be able to not notice.

The problems tend to be one or a combination of the following...
Unable to receive mail, unable to send mail, un deleteable
messages stuck in Inbox, Outbox, and a variety of folders.

Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus or you will get
undeletable messages.

Basically, Norton and McAfee insert hooks too deeply into the operating
system, slowing it down and eventually causing too many various problems to
enumerate.

Thank you. I hate to remove a program that is so far working, but it
wouldn't be prudent to ignore so many warnings. I suppose the whole purpose
of these discussion groups is that we learn from other's problems or mistakes
to avoid experiencing them ourself. Goodbye McAffee.

Good man.

It does take a leap of faith and that's not easy but I
assure you it will be OK..

These groups are amongst the best $0 you can spend.
