McAfee update cusing email to time out

OS: WinXP Home
AV: McAfee VirusScan
FireWall: McAfee Personal Firewall
Other: McAfee Privacy Guard

I am unable to check email after running the latest update from McAfee. I
have tried with OE 6 and Pegasus Mail and neither will work - they just time
out. If I do a system restore to before the McAfee update, all works fine.
Once the update runs though it stops.

Has anybody else encountered this on WinXP? If so, is there a solution?

You might want contact mcAfee to see if they have a fix for your problem, or
if they know why it happened.

Tried that but have yet to receive a response. Dell is no help either.

I am thinking that an uninstall of McAfee products and a Zonealarm/Norton AV
install might just solve my roblem.
