Maxtor External Hard Drive

I have a Maxtor external 3000 LE USB Hard Drive. The
drive no longer shows up in my computer; however, it does
show up in device manager and the dialog box says the
device is working properly. I tried to update the driver
and I removed and reinstalled the driver several times
with no luck. Any ideas?

Right click My Computer and select Manage. Go to Disk Administrator and
assign the drive a drive letter.
