next avalable drive letter for external USB_DD drive

I have an external USB DVD-RW that used to be drive letter H (the next
avalable drive letter), but now windows is assigning drive letter K.
How can I have the system assign drive letter H when the system starts up
(next available drive letter)?

Thanks, Tracey
I used the plug/eject dialog, turning it off the external USB DVD drive and
deleteing all the Xed out physical locations under removeable storage.
It appears that USB storage devices are assigned the same drive letter each
time (great in most instances), but after using several different USB memory
sticks and a couple of external USB HDDs the K seems to be used for the
external USB DVD drive instead of H (H, I,and J being unused).

Just right click on "My Computer"
and select "Manage"

Then go to "storage"

"disk management" and reassign the drive letter to the one you desire.

If the desired designation is assigned to another drive,
you will of course have to reassign that one first.
