You have to supply the SATA controller drivers to the setup program
during the installation. To supply the drivers you have to press the F6
key when prompted and you *must* supply the drivers on a floppy
diskette, the setup program will not accept the drivers from any other
media source. Alternatively you can slipstream the drivers to the
installation CD.

eh shit... i got an error while booting... "<windows 2000
root>/windows/system32/config/systemD is missing or corrupted..."
WTF does that "D" mean adter system?.. <system d>, i looked and
windows<repair even doesn't have this file!

You will have to get the drivers from the motherboard manufacturer. It
should work in a VMWare install, you will have to try it to find out.
The problem with much of the new hardware is that Windows 2000 is no
longer supported.

then.. is it possible to slipstream the installer from the vista cd into the
windows 2000 cd AND ALL DRIVERS from the vista cd to the win2k cd?...
i have still my original vista and win2k cd's!also a backup image (ISO)

You can't use the Vista installer or Vista drivers to install Windows
2000. A very few select drivers might be the same and work across all
NT versions but these would be rare exceptions, most of the Vista
drivers will not work with Windows 2000.

By the way, the Windows 2000 setup program will not properly see disks
larger than 137GB...
