Maximum size of Event-Log and Archiving of Event-Log

Norbert Pitters

Hi all,

the event-log of my exchange-server is currently set to 16MB.
I want to increase the Logging-Level of the exchange-server (installed
on Windows 2000 Server).
What is the maximum size of the Application-Event-Log ?
Are there any problems, if i set my application-Event-Log size to 2 or
more GB ?
Does anybody know a good method to export and clear the event-log in a
scheduled time ?

Greetings

You can set the maximum file size up to 4 gB. This script may help you.

I didn't read all of it but isn't Johannes talking about the default size?
Not that I recommend it but you can go 4 gB

Having an event log GB in size will be very hard to manage containing
probably millions of records.

The schedule the export of the logs see EvLog:
http://www.altairtech.ca/EvLog/

We may add the ability to clear the logs as one of its features.
