Maximum Network Connection

I have a school computer lab with 24 networked computers (no internet
connection). 1 is runnng W2K Pro, 4 are running WIN XP Pro and the rest are
running WIN98 SE. I've pointed all the My Documents folders on all machines
to one of the XP Pro machines so that all students use it as sort of a file
server that I can back up from (and it helps that the students don't have to
sit in the same spot every day as all of their files are centrally located)

It seems that when I set up the machines to point to the one XP machine
there were no problems. Now, though, it seems that some connections are
being broken without any specific reason.

Does XP Pro have a limit to the number of LAN connections it can handle at
once?

XP Pro has a limitation of 10 simultaneous connections, XP Home has a
limitation of 5.

Windows 2000 Pro (with or without SP4!) has the same limitation as XP Pro.

If you are running 24 networked PCs, you should think about the Windows2003
Small Business Server which has a limitation of 75 simultaneous connections
or the Windows 2000 Small Business Server which has a limitation of 49
simultaneous connections as your server PC.
