Maximum HDD Supported

hi,

how can i detect the maximum hdd (by size gbs), supported on my system,

specs are:
compaq pc
amd ahtlon xp 2400+
512 mb ram
primary master: 40 GB 7200 RPM HDD
primary slave: -
secondary master: dvd-combo
secondary slave: cd-rom
win xp pro sp2
i want to install a 80 GB 7200 RPM HDD on primary slave, will my system
able to detect it, how to detect it before purcashing?

80GB will not be a problem. If the disk was larger than 127GB, you'd
have to determine whether your system supports 48bit LBA addressing (I
think any SP1 system does).

Most PCs will be able to support hard drives upto 137GB without problems.
After 137GB, you will need to make sure that the motherboard BIOS can do
48bit lab access.
