In Outlook Express, is there a way to get a maximum window when you
double click a message ?

Thanks,
Andy

No, not in any normal 'native' way. Each mail opens in a 'default' size,
unlike other programs like notepad (where you can close it the way you want
it to open (i.e. close maximized - open maximized))

There may well be one, however, with the aid of some 3rd-party software,
that I don't know about, but not purely in OE there isn't.

You may stand a better chance of finding the answer to an OE problem if you
were to post your question in an OE newsgroup, such as:

microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general

....on the same server as this one is on (msnews.microsoft.com).

Any window you want to resize permanently must be the /last/ window closed.

Grab the corners of the window and drag it to full screen size. Do not use
Maximize. Close all other windows first via the Taskbar and this one last.
Windows will remember the *last* screen size used the next time you open the
program.

I do apologize, (it's just that it won't stay 'maximized' so I assumed it
could not be resized) it can indeed.

As 'Bruce Hagen' says, a message can be 'stretched' then close it when it is
of the desired size.

It should then open the same size as when you closed.

It will not stay maximized, however.

See Bruce's reply. While you can resize the smaller window, an OE message
window will never open in a maximized window by default.

Thanks Bruce, you get the gold star. I used Alt Tab to close the other
windows.

Actually Tim, it does open maximized after doing what Bruce said even
when OE is closed and reopened.

Take care,

You're welcome. Technically it is now opening "Full Screen", not Maximized.
