Matshita UJDA 720 driver problem after update

has anyone had a problem with XP Pro sp1 and their DVD/CD
drives after applying the latest patches. I get this
message in the device driver properties.

"Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this
hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)"

The drive is working correctly (tested with bootable CD.
