How come when I change my Master Slide Footer Text, it doesn't apply to the
all the slides under it? I have clicked on Apply to All Slides under the
Footer/Header Tab.

You're using PPT 2007? Do all the slides under the master (by the way,
those are called the slide layouts) have footer placeholders?

N

N. Vu

Yes 2007. it looks like some of the slides do not have footer place holders
and it doesn't updating. do I have to go in manually to each of the slides
and put them in. Somehow, I got the ones with the footer placeholds to copy
the Master Slide Layout finally, but now when I insert a new slide at the end
of my presentation, the footer comes through fine, but I had a Text Box in
the Middle of the Master Layout Slide
(Click to edit Master text styles
Second level
Third level
Fourth level
Fifth level)
But that doesn't show up now on at New Inserted Slide..

I just tried to manually say insert footer, but that doesn't work. I have to
go and copy and paste from one of the existing slides each of my 3
footers..isn't there a better way. I have way too many slides if I have to
manually insert all these footers in each slide.

I'm not following the details below, sorry, but probably if you reset the
slide layout on your slide, the footer will appear. Select your slide in the
slide thumbnail pane, then go to the Home tab and click the Reset button.
It's in the Slides group right under the Layout button. You may need to
click it twice.

If that doesn't do it, choose the Layout button and change to a layout that
has the footer placeholders.

If you go to View | Slide Master and see a slide layout (small slide
thumbnails) there that has no footer placeholder, click the Footers button
on the Ribbon -- it's on the Slide Master tab in the Master Layout group.

You rock. I got the footers to show up using the View | Slide Master..

My last problem, is that when I insert a new slide under my Master,
a Master Text Box that I have, doesn't show up (The footers aren't any
problem).

Is there some option I'm not clicking...

Hi,
I got it to work if I manually go into Slide Master, Insert Placeholder,
Insert Text.

HOw come it doesn't just automatically show up since it is on the Master
Layout?

Slide Masters and Layouts are different. You cannot add a placeholder to a
Slide Master in PPT 2007,. but you can add one to a Slide Layout.

Maybe this will help you see what's going on
http://www.echosvoice.com/2007_tutorials.htm -- check the three tutorials
under Slide Masters and Layouts. But to answer the specific question, when
you create a new slide layout, it comes with a title placeholder and the
three "footer" placeholders: footer, date and page number. It's up to you to
add the other placeholders. If you want a new "title and content" type
layout (the one that looks very similar to the slide master), then duplicate
the Title and Content Layout by right-clicking it and choosing Duplicate
Slide Layout.
