Mass Storage Controller - Continuous error 39 message

Guest

Every time I start Windows XP I am asked to install a Mass Storage Controller
via the Add New Hardware Wizard, but the system cannot find the drivers on
my computer or the net. I then get a "(Code 39)" message "Windows cannot load
the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing.

I have uninstalled via Device Manager etc but to no avail. I d not even know
what a Mass Storage Controlleris, and I am not plugging anything into my USB
ports etc.

Any ideas?

Its part of your motherboard chipset drivers, obtainable from your mobo
site, or manu site if a Laptop or large OEM eg Dell/HP etc

You havent purchance been using win update for drivers? if you have try
rolling back the driver
Never obtain drivers from winupdate.

Its a controller for ide/scsi/sata. If new notation to your XP, probably
onboard. Probably reset bios, or modfied bios setting to enable same.
Connections are usually inside the PC case on the motherboard, not external
like USB. Can be disabled in device manager so you don't have to see it
anymore, will continue to exist though.
