Hi,
Server running WinXP (Home) has personal folders and a
shared folder called 'Common'.
Existing clients (Win98SE) have mapped network drives that
reconnect at logon. Each client maps a personal folder
and all clients map 'Common' folder. Works without fail.
New client (WinXP Home) set up to map personal folder on
network drive and 'Common' folder will NOT reconnect at
logon. Any ideas why?
Observations: When XP client has no network drives mapped
boot up is MUCH quicker. When network drives are mapped
boot up stalls for approx 50-60 seconds. What do you
think is happening during this time?
XP client executes two startup .bat files. One uses 'net
time set' to sync client time with server. This works. The
other uses a 'move' command to relocate files in 'Common'
folder to local hard drive folder. This always fails
with 'cannot find drive' error.
Thanks,
Fred
