MAPI not installed or initialized

I have just bought a new LPT VAIO SR210J and when I am trying to import
messages from MS Outlook into windows mail, the software does not import
these msgs and a message pops up mentioning

" MESSAGES CANNOT BE IMPORTED FROM MAPI CLIENT

MAPI IS NOT INSTALLED ON THIS COMPUTER OR AN ERROR OCCURRED WHILE
INITIALIZING IT"

Can somebody pls help in solving this problem for me as now I am stuck with
my old Laptop as cannot use the new one

Windows Mail cannot import a .pst file unless Outlook is installed on the
Vista computer.

You can install Outlook, copy the .pst to the Vista computer, open the .pst
with Outlook, then you can import into Windows Mail.

Or,
If you have Outlook installed on an XP computer, import the .pst data into
Outlook Express, copy the .dbx files and .wab file to the Vista computer,
and import into Windows Mail.
