Importing Outlook Messages into Windows Mail

"Messages cannot be imported from the MAPI client.

MAPI is not installed or an error occurred initializing it."

How can I get this resolved?

By migrating (not Importing) the OE data into Windows Mail properly:

If you really mean Outlook, it has to be installed and configered to the
data file, before you can import

MS Outlook must be installed and using the data (PST file) you want to
import into Windows Mail, otherwise you're SOL.

How can I get this resolved?

Install Outlook. You don't have to activate it, so you can borrow an
install CD, install, and then uninstall after the task is complete.

Patrick:
Tried your suggestion and downloaded a trial copy...still having the same
problem though even after downloading outlook and opening. Vista mail is
still giving me the same error.

I was successful in importing .pst file into new outlook program from old
computer. I exported the messages again to a new .pst file. Then opened
Vista mail. Still received the same message about MAPI.

I am now at a loss again.

1. OL *must* be using the PST file you want to import into Windows Mail.

2. Import the OL data into Windows Mail, do NOT export the OL data to
Windows Mail.
