Hi again.

In the power options in windows, you can have your monitor go to sleep in
the selected times.

Is there an utility that will allow me to shut off the monitors with the
click of a mouse? I hate having to turn off each monitor by hand, and then
turn them back on when I'm ready to use the pc again....

I always hear that degauss sound they make, and I would imagine that
something like that could tear up the monitors after a while, correct? But
when they are in sleep mode, and I move the mouse to turn the monitors back
on, they don't make that huge degauss sound... they come on peacefully...
well I hope you know what I'm talking about,

Thanks in Advance...

Jason

I dont know of anyway to put your monitor to sleep with a program or
anything. When windows turn off the monitor it basically just cuts the
signal and most monitors will shut off. If your monitor has a built in power
save mode TURN IT OFF. You will still have to wait until windows "shuts down
the monitor", but when you move your mouse it will appear instantly and not
have to power up. By the way, deguassing is not bad at all. It woulnd't be
included on crts if it was harmful.

are you ready for this?
i am using a monitor from my "win3.1" computer (1990).
used it with "win98" and using it with "winXP".

during all these years i just plugged the monitor into
the computer and did not need new drivers ever. not even
a plug/play message popup.

i turn on/off switch at least once a day.
never any problems with it and have moved it too many
times to remember. no scratches on screen or case.
major move by u-haul truck: texas to michigan to texas

my son wants to get me new larger better monitor.
only when this one dies. original cost: $100.00.
that's less then $10.00 per year.

I use Wizmo that I downloaded from Gibson Research
(grc.com). It has lots of options including Standby and
Shutdown.
