Can't Wake From Sleep Mode

Mackenrick

I'm having a problem with one of my computers not waking from sleep mode. I
currently have it set to Turn Off Monitor after 15min, Turn Off HD after 1hr
and System Standby after 2hrs. I DO NOT have it set to Hybernate.
After coming back t the computer after a couple of hours the screen is blank
and monitor indicates it is in a low power state. I can hear the computer
fans running but not sure if the HD's are also running. I try to "wake" the
computer but nothing happens. (I move the mouse and hit several keys on the
keyboard). The mouse and keyboard are NOT USB so that is not the problem.
Any suggestions will be helpful.
*Note: The computer and monitor will turn back on with mouse or keyboard
input if the computer is only off for a short length of time (30 - 45
minutes).

I have also read the other posts on this subject but didn't find anything
that might work.

You could look at the Error and Warnings in the Application and System
logs in Event Viewer.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Administrative Tools,
Event Viewer. When researching the meaning of the error, information
regarding Event ID, Source and Description are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;308427&Product=winxp

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Double click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. This will paste the info from the Event Viewer Error Report
complete with links into the message. Make sure this is the first paste
after exiting from Event Viewer.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Gerry, I'll give that a try. Thanks also for the tip on Posting
Copies of the Error. Very helpful.
