Managment Console Error

My computer recently started having a "Managment Console Error" box appear and then the managment console shuts down. I'm not sure what the Console is but do I need it and how do I fix this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

To reinstall microsoft management console mmc

It can be installed from the Windows XP CD to the SYSTEM32
directory.
You can find it on the CD in the I386 directory.
It will be listed as MMC.EX_ (it is compressed). You can
expand it from the CD and copy it to your hard drive.
EXPAND D:\I386\MMC.EX_ C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\MMC.EXE
