Hi,
My internet explorer keeps crashing and i followed the microsoft
recommendation to disable unknown add-ons in the tools tab. After doing that
i have noticed that vunumffm.dll re-enables itself every time i turn on my
computer and when i turn it off it shows an error message of 'vunumffm.dll
cant initialise'. Can anyone help. thanx

There is nothing wrong with beta that has been documented yet! I
wouldn't use any 3rd party software that is given away for nothing! Ms
software protects you actively unlike FREE Lavasoft which needs to be
scanned whenever you have a problem.

In fact the final release will contain no major changes except to
include Rootkit revealer/removal!

Hey, it's your computer; do what you want with it. I won't put a BETA on
my machine, nor will I ever download the Malicious Program Removal Tool
that comes out every month at Windows Update. Sorry, but I don't trust
MS for this sort of thing.

As far as active protection, Spybot does do that. I also have
Spywareblaster and Spywareguard that also does that, all free and all
FINAL versions.

If you don't trust Ms for "thit sort of thing" then you should not be
using MS products! A company like MS hasn't got anything to gain by
screwing your system but Lavasoft can sell you some more stuff to put
your system right when you use its free stuff!

The beta version has a lot more than what Lavasoft is giving. MS is
updated daily, Lavasoft weekly.

Horsepucky. One has nothing to do with the other. The BETA program is a
Giant product, not an MS product. MS just bought it, renamed it and now
you are going to buy it.

Keep telling yourself that.

I've been using AdAware for over five years and have had no problems
with it.

Please note that I don't just use AdAware. See below. Also note that as
soon as MS' BETA becomes final, it will no longer be free. You will have
to pay a subscription. It gives false positives, which, if removed,
could screw up your system. But, hey, it's your computer, do what you
want with it.

All and all, however, safe hex is the best program for keeping your
computer free of beasties.

Does it make any difference if MS bought it from a 3rd party? If a
customer has a problem who is going to solve it - MS or your 3rd party?

Where did you get this erroneous information? Anti-spyware will be
given away free to home users and will be bundled with
enterprise/corporate licenses for business users.

You have to accept that MS products are the safest available. The
reason you get lots of attacks to MS OS is because there are people out
there who don't use common sense when using computers. Auto-update has
solved some of the problems but there are sceptics who have not
installed SP2 yet for wrong reasons!

End of thread for me.

Thank you for your contribution.

It's a BETA. It shows false positives. It's a POS.

UM, WPA and WGA are flawed programs and MS forces us to use them because
they think all their customers are thieves until they prove otherwise.

Dude are you stupid? Neither will solve it because it's a BETA release, no
support.
From MS....*This is pre-release (beta) software distributed for feedback and
testing purposes. Microsoft does not provide technical support for beta
releases*

MS spyware does not have the track record of Adaware Sybot etc and 99% of
the people here and that I know recommend Adawre and Spybot.
To the original poster; Who's recommendation would you take?

Hey guys,

This has certainly stirred up some debate. I have Ms Antispyware and run it
aver week or so and that hasnt fixed the problem. I have never used spybot
though. What should i do.

Thanx
