Making Outlook Express my default mail handler

When i installed XP my default handler was Outllok Express 6
My Daughter then installed office on the puter and it set Outlook as the default handler
I managed to uninstall Outlook, but now when I try to make Outlook Express my default handler it just WILL NOT keep that setting no matter how many times i try in the options on Outlook Express
Can anyone give me some ideas?

Go to Start, select Run
Type in: regsvr32 urlmon.dll.

Now open IE

Select Tools from the Menu, select: Internet Options, select Programs, Reset Web
Settings.

To make Outlook Express as the default mail client
Go to Start, select Run
Type in: msimn.exe /reg

For further information:
Restore OE to the E-mail List in Internet Options (Row 9)
