"Make Contacts folder an email address book" is greyed out

I am using Outlook 2003. I have been using my contacts as my email address
book, but this was suddenly lost (I am not aware of any change I made), and
when I try to reset the "use contacts as an email address book" this option
is greyed out. Also in the address book options screen, it does not show
contacts as an option to use for the address book any longer. I have checked
my .pst file which appears ok, and I can still edit my contacts normally. Any
help much appreciated
